Member of Technical Staff, Compiler

This company was founded on a clear thesis: in clinical settings, AI should be used at build time, not runtime. Its compiler is already operational in Canadian public health care, which makes this a rare chance to do high-impact research inside a live, regulated clinical environment.

The company was founded by physician-researchers with experience at frontier AI labs. The team works where clinical reasoning meets AI safety. It recently closed a $3M seed round backed by venture investors and a prominent private investor, and it has partnerships with industry leaders including Merck, Mila and Microsoft. It is a team of six, mostly based in Canada, and is now expanding into the U.S. You'll join a mission-driven organization where your research is put directly into practice to solve critical challenges in medical decision-making and accountability.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of research or industry experience, or a final-year PhD or postdoc. Frontier-lab experience or cutting-edge doctoral work is a strong signal.
• A BS or higher in computer science, machine learning, math or a related technical field
• A track record of shipping ML/NLP systems to production, not just research prototypes
• Production-level Python, plus fluency with PyTorch and the Transformers ecosystem
• Experience with LLM evaluation, training or prompt engineering
• Hands-on experience with clinical AI and large datasets
• Published research
• The ability to explain failed experiments and uncertainty clearly in writing
• Willingness to attend in-person offsites several times a year

Nice to have

• A PhD in computer science, machine learning, NLP, formal methods or statistics
• Experience with compilers, program synthesis, formal methods or static analysis
• Knowledge of IR design, constraint solving, SAT/SMT or domain-specific languages
• Experience in healthcare or another safety-critical or highly regulated domain
• A background at a top technology company or an advanced academic research group

• Full-time position
• Competitive base salary of $150K–$300K, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
• Competitive equity, with a cash-to-equity mix that can be tailored to your preference
• Remote for candidates based in the U.S. or Canada, with in-person offsites several times a year
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada without visa sponsorship, now or in the future. For example, this includes U.S. citizens and green card holders, and Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
