Senior Full Stack Developer, Microservices Focused

About the company

Our client is breaking new ground in IoT, serving construction, oil and gas, and mining, and is backed by one of Canada's largest construction groups. The team is about 50 people and expects to double in size over the next year. Hardware engineering, software, BAs and support all sit in the same room, so the team is very collaborative.

The role

This is a new position. You will join a greenfield rewrite of the company's existing IoT platform as a modern, distributed microservices platform. The platform processes millions of records a day in near real time. The work is mostly back end. A dedicated UI/UX front-end developer is already on the team, but developers are cross-trained so they can step in when needed.

Must have

• Senior .NET / C# experience building microservices. Minimal APIs are preferred over MVC only.
• You have designed and built microservices, either greenfield or by maintaining and scaling them. You can explain service boundaries, domain design and how services should be grouped.
• Entity Framework / EF Core.
• Experience with high-availability, high-volume, near-real-time data processing.
• Strong ownership, plus debugging and troubleshooting skills. You work at a senior level without needing hand-holding.

Nice to have

• Kubernetes and orchestration, and DevOps exposure.
• Kafka. It is core to the rewrite.
• An IoT background.
• Experience rewriting a monolith into microservices.
• Angular.

Interview process

1. Technical interview, 45 to 60 minutes.
2. Company-fit interview, about 30 minutes.

Compensation

$130K CAD base, flexible for an exceptional candidate. Health and dental benefits.

On-site 5 days a week is strongly preferred. Remote is considered only for a standout candidate who can align their hours with the team in the office.
