Senior Software Engineer - iOS (New York City/Hybrid)

Compensation: $180,000–$220,000 USD + Equity

Company Size: ~50–100 employees

Company Funding: $30M raised | VC-backed

Tech Stack:

Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Modern iOS Architecture, Modular Architecture, CI/CD, AI-Native Product Development

Why This Role

This is a founding iOS engineering opportunity with the chance to build and ship a new mobile product from scratch.

You'll own the iOS experience end-to-end, from initial architecture and technical foundations through polished production features. You'll work directly with Product and Design to determine what the mobile experience should become rather than inheriting an established roadmap or mature mobile codebase.

The underlying product sits on top of a massive startup knowledge graph spanning tens of millions of companies and hundreds of millions of people. You'll help turn that data advantage into an AI-native mobile experience used to discover promising companies, people, and opportunities.

The company is growing revenue 100%+ year-over-year and is already used by some of the world's leading technology companies and investors. You'll join at a stage where the business has meaningful traction while the mobile product is still at day zero.

You will:

  • Build and ship the company's first native iOS application from scratch.
  • Own the mobile product from initial project setup and architecture through production launch and ongoing development.
  • Create polished, high-performance native experiences using Swift and modern iOS frameworks.
  • Partner directly with Product and Design to define world-class mobile interactions and AI-native user experiences.
  • Translate ambiguous product ideas into intuitive, production-ready features without requiring a predefined technical path.
  • Establish modern mobile architecture, engineering patterns, and best practices.
  • Build scalable abstractions, modular architecture, reusable components, and technical foundations that support a growing mobile product.
  • Establish testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines that allow the mobile team to ship quickly and reliably.
  • Make foundational technical decisions that will influence how mobile engineering operates as the company scales.
  • Help hire and mentor future mobile engineers while setting the technical and product quality bar for the team.

Skills:

  • 5–10 years of professional experience building user-facing iOS applications with meaningful production usage.
  • Deep proficiency with Swift and modern native iOS development.
  • Strong experience with UIKit and/or SwiftUI.
  • Experience owning significant areas of a consumer or highly polished user-facing iOS product.
  • Experience shipping a 0→1 iOS application or taking substantial ownership of an application from architecture through production.
  • Strong understanding of modern mobile architecture, design patterns, modularity, testing, and engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable abstractions and technical foundations rather than simply implementing individual features.
  • Strong product and design intuition with a track record of building polished user experiences.
  • Highly customer-centric approach to engineering and the ability to clearly articulate the user problem behind technical decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and independently turn problems into shipped solutions.
  • Experience at a high-growth VC-backed startup and/or a best-in-class consumer mobile engineering organization.
  • Strong career progression and increasing levels of technical ownership.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with Product and Design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline from a highly regarded university.
  • NYC-based and able to work from the office three days per week.

Other Skills:

  • Founding or first iOS engineer experience.
  • Experience building a native mobile application entirely from scratch.
  • A combination of high-growth startup and larger technology company experience.
  • Experience building high-engagement consumer applications with exceptional polish and product quality.
  • Experience designing mobile experiences around AI-native chat or conversational interfaces.
  • Experience with data-heavy products.
  • Exposure to backend engineering and scalable backend services.
  • Experience establishing CI/CD and automated testing infrastructure for mobile applications.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or helping grow a mobile engineering team.
  • Experience using AI development tools as part of the engineering workflow.
  • Interest in startups, venture capital, company discovery, search, or AI-powered products.

How The Company Works

  • Founding-level ownership – You'll be the founding iOS engineer and have significant control over the architecture, engineering standards, and direction of the mobile product.
  • Product and design obsessed – Engineering quality is measured by the customer experience, not simply whether a feature works.
  • Customer-first engineering – Engineers are expected to understand who they're building for, what problem they're solving, and how their work affects customers.
  • 0→1 environment – You'll work through ambiguity and establish systems, patterns, and products rather than inheriting everything already built.
  • AI-native product development – The team is exploring how AI-native experiences can unlock a massive proprietary dataset in entirely new ways.
  • Complex problems at scale – The broader platform operates across tens of millions of companies, hundreds of millions of people, and large volumes of interconnected data.
  • High-growth environment – Revenue is growing 100%+ year-over-year while the company remains at an early enough stage for individual engineers to have significant influence.
  • Small team, significant impact – Engineers work directly with Product and Design and have meaningful influence over both technical and product decisions.
  • Hybrid in NYC – This role is based in New York City with three days per week in the office.
